Spherical roller bearings have two rows of barrel shaped rollers which run on a common sphered outer ring raceway and two inner ring raceways which are inclined at an angle to the bearing axis. Spherical roller bearings are self-aligning and are therefore insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing, which can be caused by shaft deflection. Spherical roller bearings are designed to accommodate both heavy radial loads and heavy axial loads in both directions.
